Zara is on road to recovery

Christmas happiness has come early for the Lundy family in this year.

Proud parents Jonathan and Michelle Lundy beamed as they watched their 9 years old daughter Zara go back to high school for the first time in a year.


It became Zara milestone for the youngster, who efficaciously underwent a stem cell transplant in March in her fight against cancer.

 MR Lundy said: “We are so proud of her, After this big problem she has been through. “when we look back at pictures from this moment last year, we see the darkness that we had been looking Lundy.

“It feels like now we are popping out into the light. she has done awesome. “Christmas might be totally different experience in this time around. we are sincerely looking ahead to celebrating as a family.”

The whole family, who these days moved from Normanton to Middleton, had been informed Zara had acute lymphoblastic leukemia when she was just 6 years old. after present process grueling bouts of chemotherapy and fighting off pneumonia, septicemia, and shingles, Zara went into remission from the disease an early last year.

But by December, her family have informed the devastating information that she had relapsed, and could want a transplant. Zara underwent the operation on March 24, a date the family has fondly labeled her ‘second’ birthday after a donor match was found in Poland.

She has since faced a long road to recovery, but last month, she was nicely sufficient to return to her school, Westwood Primary in Leeds, for the first time. And she hopes to be back inside the classroom complete time in the new year.

Mr. Lundy said: “my wife and I broke down in tears when we found out there was a match, tears of comfort that there have been people available inclined to give our girl a 2nd chance.”

“we're very positive and we are firmly centered on the destiny. We're taking every day as it comes and enjoying family life.” The family thanked everyone inside the community who has supported Zara and entreated others to join for the bone marrow register, which gives stem cell donors.
